Joss Whedon to Write, Direct and Produce Standalone ‘Batgirl’ Movie

Joss Whedon (The Avengers) is reportedly nearing a deal to write, direct, and produce an untitled Batgirl movie for Warner Bros. and DC Films, which will be based on the New 52 version of the character from Gail Simone.

The project originated in the past month and will be part of the DC Extended Universe, following this summer’s Wonder Woman as the second movie from DC Films to center around a female lead, as well as another female-centric entry in David Ayer’s Gotham City Sirens.

3rd Installment In The Rebooted Series

20th Century Fox has revealed the second War for the Planet of the Apes trailer, featuring the return of Andy Serkis as Caesar and Woody Harrelson as his adversary, the Colonel.

The third installment in the rebooted monkey series, directed again by Matt Reeves, sees humanity and the ever-evolving primates more divided than ever. Co-starring Steve Zahn, Amiah Miller, Karin Konoval, Judy Greer and Terry Notary, War for the Planet of the Apes opens in theaters on July 14th.

Brad Pitt‘s Darkly Satirical Tale

Netflix has released a new trailer for War Machine, the Brad Pitt‘s darkly satirical tale directed by Animal Kingdom‘s David Michod.

The movie is based on Michael Hastings‘ non-fiction book “The Operators,” and appears to be a harsh look at the United States’ military operations in Afghanistan.

Focus Features has released the first trailer for Colin Trevorrow‘s new film The Book of Henry, featuring talented Room star Jacob Tremblay, Jaeden Lieberher, and Naomi Watts.

Penned by Gregg Hurwitz, the film follows two brothers and their adventures when they discover their neighbors are hiding a dark secret. Co-starring Sarah Silverman, Lee Pace, Maddie Ziegler, and Dean Norris, check out the first trailer for The Book of Henry below.

The First Trailer for Stephen King’s ‘It’ Features Pennywise

Andres Muschietti’s Horror Film

New Line Cinema has released the first trailer for new adaptation of Stephen King‘s horror novel It, starring Bill Skarsgard as the story’s central villain, a sinister clown named Pennywise who terrorizes the town of Derry, Maine every 30 years.

Andres Muschietti (Mama) directed the new take on the horror classic from a screenplay by Chase Palmer & Cary Fukunaga and Gary Dauberman.

STX Entertainment has released the second trailer for Luc Besson‘s graphic novel adaptation, Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets, which will be attached to Ghost in the Shell this weekend.

The new sci-fi epic stars Dane DeHaan and Cara Delevingne as agents for a special group tasked with maintaining order throughout outer space.

The First Trailer for Blue Sky Studios’ ‘Ferdinand’ Movie

The first trailer for Ferdinand, a new animated comedy from Blue Sky Studios, is online.

Directed by Carlos Saldanha (Ice Age, Rio), the story is about a bull from Spain named Ferdinand (voiced by John Cena), who prefers smelling roses to fighting in the ring.
