Lynne Ramsay’s You Were Never Really Here has a first trailer and it’s intense as hell.

Based on the novel by Jonathan Ames, the film follows Joaquin Phoenix as a tormented war veteran and ex-FBI agent who takes it upon himself to rescue the teenaged daughter (Ekaterina Samsonov) of a politician being kept in a New York brothel.

Magnet has posted the red band trailer for Takashi Miike’s 100th film Blade of the Immortal, the live-action adaptation of the Japanese manga series by Hiroaki Samura.

Starring Takuya Kimura, Hana Sugisaki, Sôta Fukushi, Ebizô Ichikawa, Min Tanaka, and Tsutomu Yamazaki, the film follows a swordsman who cannot be killed.

S. Craig Zahler’s Crime Thriller

RLJ Entertainment has released the first trailer for S. Craig Zahler’s Brawl in Cell Block 99, the brutal action/crime thriller which will be screened out of competition at the 74th Venice International Film Festival that begins Aug. 30.

Starring Vince Vaughn, Jennifer Carpenter, Udo Kier, Marc Blucas and Don Johnson, the film follows a former boxer-turned-drug runner who lands in a prison battleground after a deal gets deadly.

Here’s the 7-minute concept short film Apocalypse Now Now, directed by Michael Matthews and based on Charlie Human’s fantasy novel about Baxter Zevchenko (Garion Dowds), a strange young man who finds himself pulled into a underworld filled with supernatural forces.

Matthews and his writing/producing partner Sean Drummond have another promising project currently under way, titled Five Fingers for Marseille, which is about to premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival.
