A BACK TO THE FUTURE Remake Can’t Happen Until Robert Zemeckis is Dead

BTTF Remake Will Never Happen

Back to the Future‘s director Robert Zemeckis told The Telegraph that he will stop all efforts to remake iconic movie while he and co-writer Bob Gale are alive.

His answer made him a hero in my eyes:

Oh, God no. That can’t happen until both Bob and I are dead. And then I’m sure they’ll do it, unless there’s a way our estates can stop it. I mean, to me, that’s outrageous. Especially since it’s a good movie. It’s like saying ‘Let’s remake Citizen Kane. Who are we going to get to play Kane?’ What folly, what insanity is that? Why would anyone do that?”

Thankfully, Zemeckis has some sense. I think that Citizen Kane comparison is a bit off. I don’t even think BTTF 2 and 3 should have been made. Never mind – stay strong Zemeckis! It’s just a pity everyone else in Hollywood didn’t feel the same way as a slew of films from the 70s, 80s and 90s will continue to return in modified form.
