Adam Sandler Wears Other People’s Shoes in First Trailer for THE COBBLER

Voltage Pictures has released the first international trailer for director Thomas McCarthy’s fantasy drama The Cobbler and this doesn’t feel like it’s directed by The Station Agent‘s helmer.

Adam Sandler plays a shoe repairman in the lazy Sunday kind of movie that was singled out by many as one of the worst films of Toronto International Film Festival.

Therefore, The Cobbler is still awaiting an official U.S. release date. The movie also stars Dustin Hoffman, Dan Stevens, Steve Buscemi, Ellen Barkin and Method Man.

The trailer is all over the place. Watch below.

At the start I was like WOW, serious Sandler and then I was like NOPE, regular Sandler. After the end of the trailer I was like… just another paycheck movie with big names including Sandler. D’oh!

THE COBBLER is a warm and character-driven comedy that plays to the strengths of Adam Sandler’s and Thomas McCarthy’s most commercial successes. Sandler plays a 4th generation shoe-maker who discovers a magical sewing machine in his father’s basement that allows him to transform into other people by wearing their shoes. Similar in theme to Tom Hanks’ BIG, TRADING PLACES, and 13 GOING ON 30, THE COBBLER provides the perfect vehicle for Sandler to exhibit his endearing and selfless boyish charm, taking him on a voyage of self-discovery and learning the importance of family via the magic of “walking a mile in another man’s shoes.” A journey that results not only in changing himself, but the world around him.
