Alexandra Daddario Cast in ‘Baywatch’ Movie

Dwayne Johnson Produced Movie

Following report earlier this month that seven actresses were up for the female lead in the film based on the ’90s TV series, Dwayne Johnson has now confirmed that his San Andreas co-star Alexandra Daddario has landed the role of Summer in the big-screen reboot of Baywatch.

Daddario seemingly beat out other contenders like Nina Dobrev and Ashley Benson. The Rock shared the news on Instagram Wednesday, while teasing that the casting of C.J. Parker, originally played by Pamela Anderson, is forthcoming:

IT'S OFFICIAL: Want to welcome the talented and gorgeous @alexannadaddario to the cast of #BAYWATCH for the role of "Summer". The #BaywatchFamily so far consists of a tatted up bald guy named Rock, the cool, yet extremely unattractive @zacefron, the talented and gorgeous Alexandra Daddario…and some big casting announcements coming soon. Seth Gordon‘s Baywatch movie also stars Zac Efron. The upcoming action-comedy is planned as a very R-rated movie and finds Johnson playing a very serious by-the-book lifeguard who is forced to team up with a young hothead (Efron) in order to save the beach from environmental destruction at the hands of a nefarious oil tycoon. Daddrio will be playing Summer, originally played by Nicole Eggert on the TV series, a lifeguard who also happens to be the girlfriend of Efron’s “aerobicized life saver.”

Production on the Paramount’s Baywatch adaptation is expected to begin early next year, and will be based on a script most recently written by Damian Shannon and Mark Swift.

Seriously, is Alexandra Daddario starring in Baywatch the most obvious casting decision in history?
