Alfonso Cuaron Won’t Be Directing FANTASTIC BEAST

Turns out that last Monday‘s rumor that Alfonso Cuaron was in talks to direct the Harry Potter spin-off film Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them was nothing more than a rumor.

The Oscar-winning director of Gravity, and Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban has denied that he is being lined up to direct this spin-off:

“[Directing Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban] was a very beautiful experience for me. I have a lot of love for that universe and I tremendously admire JK Rowling, but today, for the present, projects based around lots of visual effects don’t attract me. I’m coming out of a five-year process of doing visual effects and now I sort of want to clean my palate of that a little bit.”

Well, I’m fine with him doing what he wants to do.

Warner Bros. had reportedly an offer out to him to direct their developing project The Overlook Hotel, a horror/suspense prequel to Stanley Kubrick’s The Shining.

Regarding Fantastic Beasts, David Heyman will produce the fisrt film in a planned trilogy, which will be about a “magizoologist” named Newt Scamander with the picture due for release on Novemebr 18, 2016.

Why don’t they get Guillermo Del Toro to do it?
