All Hail the King: ‘Kong: Skull Island’ New Trailer
Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary have revealed, via Jimmy Kimmel Live, the new Kong: Skull Island trailer, and it appears that this is far from a King Kong remake.
Directed by Jordan Vogt-Roberts, the upcoming monster movie is set in the 1970s and follows an expedition of scientists and soldiers venturing deep into an uncharted island in the South Pacific, but nothing could prepare them for the flora and fauna of Skull Island.
Scripted by John Gatins and Max Borenstein, the film stars Tom Hiddleston, Brie Larson, John Goodman, John C. Reilly, Samuel L. Jackson, Corey Hawkins, Jason Mitchell, Tian Jing, Thomas Mann, John Ortiz, Shea Whigam, Toby Kebbell, and Eugene Cordero. Kong: Skull Island arrives on March 10, 2017.
The sheer size of the ape, combined with references to the shadowy organization Monarch, also seem to be laying the groundwork for Warner Bros. and Legendary’s Godzilla vs. Kong monster crossover that will stomp through theaters in 2020.

The cringey Marvel humor is infecting everything. Anyway, this looks a lot better than I expected.
Take a look at two jaw-dropping posters as well, including one with an Apocalypse Now vibe:
When a scientific expedition to an uncharted island awakens titanic forces of nature, a mission of discovery becomes an explosive war between monster and man.
