Amazon Blocks Pre-Orders of Disney Movies

Amazon-Blocks-Disney-Movies-Preorders

Online retail giant Amazon.com have decided to block the pre-order option for Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Muppets Most Wanted, Maleficent and other Disney films in disc form.

Amazon used this tactic in disputes with publisher Hachette Book Group and warner Bros.,  earlier this year. Back in June, they also blocked DVD and Blu-ray pre-order sales of titles like The Lego Movie, 300: Rise of an Empire, Transcendence, and Winter’s Tale.

It seems that the clashes between Warner Bros. and Amazon are being resolved,  but now a new feud has begun. Because revenue from disc sales remains important to a studio’s bottom line, this dispute will need to be resolved soon. However, Amazon and Hachette are still battling over e-book pricing terms.

At this moment, customers can still buy digital versions in advance or should consider looking at Best Buy and Target for Captain Ameria: The Winter Soldier, Muppets Most Wanted, Maleficent and Million Dollar Arm. You can still pre-order these items in the UK.

I will be very happy if Amazon is trying to drive down prices, but I’m afraid Amazon is starting to get a bit too big for its britches.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier will be available early on Digital 3D, Digital HD and Disney Movies August 19. It will be released on 3D Combo Pack, Blu-ray, DVD and On-Demand September 9, from Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment.
