ANT-MAN Comic Con Poster Debuts

San Diego Comic-Con has begun and Marvel has revealed their Ant-Man Comic Con poster, which is a piece of pre-production artwork from Andy Park.

Our titular hero, Paul Rudd and Michael Douglas are featured in this new one-sheet. Here’s some more info, thanks to EW:

As this poster makes clear: That’s Paul Rudd taking on the central role of Scott Lang, a thief who, according to the comics, stole the technology behind the shrinking suit from the original Ant-Man, Hank Pym.

And there’s Michael Douglas, joining the Marvel universe as Pym, a scientist with Tony Stark-levels of ingenuity. He not only builds a miniaturizing mechanism, but also constructs a method of communicating with tiny creatures. (Better to have them on your side than trying to eat you.)

Although Lang only steals the suit to make it easier to lead a life of crime—it’s simple to sneak in and grab other things of value when you are microscopic—he inevitably follows a reluctant hero arc.

This is probably not the final version of the suit. That mask has shades of Star-Lord in it, but it’s a superb poster and illustration though.

Moreover, we’re getting a big-budget Hollywood movie where a superhero rides on a flying ant! Yeah, I can hear Michael Douglas now…. “Raid is what kills bugs dead.” Raid’s not a villain. Just kidding.

All jokes aside, Ant-Man directed by Peyton Reed opens July 17, 2015.
