Walt Disney Lve-Action

Walt Disney Pictures has set a March 17, 2017, release date for Bill Condon’s live-action Beauty and the Beast retelling. Emma Thompson (Saving Mr. Banks) has joined the cast as Mrs. Potts and Kevin Kline (A Fish Called Wanda) as Belle’s father, Maurice.

Production is set to start in May at Shepperton Studios in London, with Emma Watson as Belle alongside Dan Stevens as Beast/Prince and Luke Evans as Gaston. The Frozen actor Josh Gad was not included in today’s announcement. He was previously reported as playing LeFou, the goofy sidekick to the villainous Gaston.

Alan Menken, eight-time Oscar-winner and the composer of the 1991 animated Beauty and the Beast, will score the reboot. Twilight director Bill Condon will helm from a script by Stephen Chbosky (The Perks of Being a Wallflower).

I’m loving this cast. I enjoy Kline as the eccentric Mr. Fischoder on “Bob’s Burgers”. Love Emma Thompson, forever and ever.
