Ben Mendelsohn Eyed for Key Role in STAR WARS Spinoff ROGUE ONE
There’s no hint of what kind of character Mendelsohn will be playing. No plot details have been revealed either, but “Rogue One” was the name given to Luke Skywalker in Star Wars: Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back (1980), which may also offer a clue to the film’s plot.
Godzilla director Gareth Edwards’ spin-off Rogue One is poised to be the next Star Wars movie after The Force Awakens and is set for release on December 16, 2016. The project is part of a series of standalone Star Wars films that Disney and LucasFilm plan to release in between the proper episodes.
Oscar nominee Chris Weitz (About A Boy, Cinderella) replaced screenwriter Gary Whitta and is currently working with Evans to bring this one home. Alexandre Desplat, fresh off winning as Oscar for the score for The Grand Budapest Hotel, will be providing the score.
Currently Ben Mendelsohn can be seen in Netflix’s new series “Bloodlines”. More Mendelsohn is always a good thing. Great underrated actor. Hope he’s playing a villain.
