BEVERLY HILLS COP 4 to Release in March 2016

That one was one of those films that’s fun to think about and will probably never happen but would love to see it. Fortunately, Paramount Pictures has revealed that, yes, this will officially happen and has set their franchise comedy sequel Beverly Hills Cop for release on March 25, 2016.

Moreover, the fourth installment of the mega-grossing 1980s movie series is being called a reboot, and yet, has Eddie Murphy set to reprise his role as the wise-cracking detective Axel Foley returning to his roots in “America’s Toughest City,” Detroit.

Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol scribes Josh Appelbaum & Andre Nemec have penned the script and Brett Ratner is still back to direct after being attached to the project for years while it went nowhere.

Jerry Bruckheimer, who is also hatching a new Top Gun, is returning as a producer on Beverly Hills Cop 4.

Early last year, a TV pilot for a  spinoff was to follow Brandon T. Jackson as Axel Foley’s son, Aaron Foley, but the network passed on it. We’ll see if the screenplay for Beverly Hills Cop reboot incorporate elements from the now-moribund television adaptation.
