Bill Murray on All-Female GHOSTBUSTERS Reboot

Let’s generate some more buzz for Ghostbusters 3 or whatever it is they’re calling it these days. Hot on the heels of recently re-released ‘80s comedy classic, rumors of a new movie are picking up more and more steam.

This time around Bill Murray – aka the former Dr. Peter Venkman – who has never really been excited about returning to the Ghostbusters franchise, seems excited about the possibility:

It sounds great to me. It sounds as good an idea as any other! There are a lot of women that could scare off any kind of vapor! No, it’s a grand idea, I don’t know who they’re talking about, but it’s a good idea, I would watch it! I mean, I love Robert Palmer’s videos, so why wouldn’t I love the female Ghostbusters?

Murray gave his ideas for the new cast for the Paul Feig-helmed, all-female reboot and yes, of course Feig‘s favorite muse Melissa McCarthy is one of them:

Melissa (McCarthy) would be a spectacular Ghostbuster. And Kristen Wiig is so funny — God, she’s funny! I like this girl Linda Cardellini a lot. And Emma Stone is funny. There are some funny girls out there.

The idea that Cardellini stands aside those other three stars in his dream world is another example of the Murray’s impeccable taste, but hey, Murray also co-starred with Stone on Zombieland, while Wiig starred in Bridesmaids too, which Feig directed and Cardellini starred in the TV show Freaks and Geeks, which Feig created.

What a coincidence!

Not to mention that Murray threw McCarthy’s name out there since he was at TIFF to promote St. Vincent, a dramedy they’d starred in together. It’s a small world, isn’t it?
