BIRDMAN Trailer: Michael Keaton Stars as Washed Up Superhero

The first trailer and poster for highly-anticipated Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu‘s dark comedy Birdman has arrived. Birdman aka The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance marks Michael Keaton‘s true lead comeback since 2005’s horror flick White Noise.

The actor who played Batman in both Batman (1990) and Batman Returns (1992) plays a washed up actor who’s trying to live down the iconic superhero role that made him famous as he struggles to mount a Broadway play in a bid to reclaim past glory. Of course, he faces troubles with his ego, career and family.

Due in theaters October 17th, Birdman co-stars Emma Stone, Zach Galifianakis, Edward Norton, Amy Ryan, Naomi Watts and Andrea Riseborough. Look for the film at Venice, Telluride or TIFF before then.

Watch Keaton wrestle Norton – we’ll finally learn who would win a fight, the Hulk or Batman.

This trailer is really good with interesting cinematography – clearly the work of Inarritu – and it doesn’t give away anything about the plot. Check out a cool poster.
