‘Blade Runner’ Sequel will Start Filming This July

Sequel To Ridley Scott’s 1982 Film

It was announced today that Warner Bros. Pictures will distribute domestically the sequel to Ridley Scott’s 1982 masterpiece Blade Runner through their deal with Alcon Entertainment, with Sony handling all of international.

Denis Villeneuve (Story of Your Life) is confirmed to be directing the screenplay by Hampton Fancher (who co-wrote the original) and Michael Green, based on an original idea from Fancher and  Scott, and starring Ryan Gosling (The Big Short) and Harrison Ford (Star Wars), who is reprising his role as Rick Deckard.

Award-winning cinematographer Roger Deakins, who previously worked on Villeneuve’s Sicario has been hired to shoot the untitled sequel. Scott will act as an executive producer.

In addition to that, principal photography is scheduled to begin in July, but plot details and what character exactly Gosling will play in the film are kept under wraps.
