Well, it’s official, Boardwalk Empire‘s Charlie Cox has been tapped to play Matt Murdock, the man who becomes the blind superhero Daredevil, in Marvel’s Daredevil and The Defenders series for Netflix.

After Edgar Wright left Ant-Man and then Drew Goddard fell away from Daredevil, finally some good news for Marvel.  Sorry, Ben Affleck! Don’t feel too bad for the Argo star — he is set to don the iconic Batsuit in the upcoming Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

Cox can now put on the suit of lawyer Murdock and the costume of his crime-fighting alter-ego, that of Affleck, who played the title role in the critically panned 2003 Daredevil movie. At least, now we know that Zack Efron doesn’t have the role.

On Saturday, Marvel announced that Spartacus creator Steven S. DeKnight is taking over the show, while  Goddard will remain an executive producer on the 13-episode series.

Due to arrive in 2015, Daredevil will begin filming this summer in New York, followed by Luke Cage, Jessica Jones and Iron Fist before all four characters team up to become The Defenders.

We eagerly await the first trailer that will hopefully fix everything.
