‘Bohemian Rhapsody’: Baby Face to Replace Bryan Singer

Bohemian Rhapsody

Dexter Fletcher, a former child actor who made his debut in 1976’s Bugsy Malone, has replaced the fired Bryan Singer on the Freddie Mercury movie, titled Bohemian Rhapsody. The project is set up at 20th Century Fox.

Fletcher, who last directed Eddie the Eagle, which Fox distributed, will see the film through its last few weeks of shooting and will then oversee post-production. Better late than never I suppose.

Rami Malek, Joe Mazzello, Ben Hardy, and Gwilym Lee star in the film, which is set to arrive in theaters on Christmas Day in 2018, and will cover a key period in the band’s history. Aidan Gillen and Tom Hollander joined the cast of Bohemian Rhapsody as well as Lucy Boynton who was set to star as Mercury’s lifelong companion Mary Austin.

Justin Haythe (Red Sparrow) wrote the script.
