The first look at Rami Malek as Freddie Mercury in the upcoming Queen biopic Bohemian Rhapsody was unveiled by Entertainment Weekly.

The film which chronicles the famously flamboyant musician’s life from 1970 to 1985 marks a return to drama for Bryan Singer after years spent with the X-Men franchise.

The movie is scheduled for a Christmas Day release next year and sees Singer directing a cast that also includes Gwilym Lee (Jamestown) as Brian May, Ben Hardy (X-Men: Apocalypse) as Roger Taylor and Joe Mazzello (The Social Network) as John Deacon.

“It won’t just be the dark Freddie story, but that being said, that also will be honored,” added Singer. “It’s about collaboration. It’s a celebration.”
