Boyd Holbrook to Replace Benicio Del Toro in Fox’s ‘The Predator’

The Predator Casting

The Hollywood Reporter brings word that Benicio Del Toro has fallen out of negotiations for the lead role in 20th Century Fox’s The Predator over scheduling issues.

The studio has its sights set on “Narcos” breakout Boyd Holbrook to star in the alleged reboot/sequel of Predator that’s to be directed by Shane Black, co-star and co-writer of the original film. Good for him. As long as it’s not James Franco I’m good.

Plot details of the highly anticipated sequel/soft reboot to the sci-fi action franchise are still scarce, but the story will mainly center around a “new hero who may or may not be named Quinn Mackenna.” Black’s Monster Squad co-writer Fred Dekker penned the script for the upcoming film.

Shane Black's Upcoming Movie

Holbrook is also starring as the villain in the Fox’s final Wolverine film, Logan, scheduled to be released on March 3, 2017. A Shane Black Predator movie rolls around on February 9, 2018. Let’s hope they put a decent film together.
