CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR Casts RUSH Star Daniel Bruhl as Villain

Daniel Bruhl, the star of Quentin Tarantino’s Inglourious Basterds and Ron Howard’s Rush has joined the cast of Captain America: Civil War in what sounds like a pivotal role in the threequel.

Producer Kevin Feige said in the statement:

“With Daniel’s ability to deliver intense, nuanced performances, we knew we had found yet another great actor to share the screen with some of our biggest heroes.”

Marvel isn’t saying who the Golden Globe nominated actor will be playing, but Deadline reports that Bruhl’s role will be a villainous one. Variety adds that he,

“is not the main villain in Captain America: Civil War but could potentially be the top menace in Marvel’s Dr. Strange.”

Really hoping it’s Baron Zemo. This dude was good on  Basterds, and he was incredible in Rush. Not sure how they’d fit him in, but with his German roots that German accent is on point. I only wonder how a Baron Zemo would fit into the Captain America 3 storyline? Maybe as leader of a Masters of Evil outfit?

However, Bruhl joins a cast that already includes Chris Evans (Captain America), Robert Downey, Jr. (Iron Man), and Chadwick Boseman (Black Panther). Joe and Anthony Russo, who directed Captain America: The Winter Soldier, return to the helm of Captain America: Civil War. The film opens in theaters May 6, 2016.
