CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR Set Photos Feature Evans, Mackie, and Grillo as Crossbones

Frank Grillo In Full Costume

Filming is officially underway on Captain America: Civil War, and now some brand-new set photos have debuted online, giving us a first look at Frank Grillo in full costume as Crossbones, via Just Jared, in addition to more photos of the fully-costumed Chris Evans and Anthony Mackie.

It’s unclear if it is Grillo or a stunt double in the Brock Rumlow costume. In the comics, Rumlow is the real name of Crossbones, a classic Captain American adversary and frequent associate of the Red Skull. Evans and Mackie are decked out in their Captain America and Falcon costumes for scenes in an African village.

Captain America: Civil War opens in theaters on May 6, 2016 and also stars Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, Paul Bettany, Jeremy Renner, Don Cheadle, Elizabeth Olsen, Paul Rudd, Emily VanCamp, Chadwick Boseman, William Hurt, Daniel Bruhl, and Martin Freeman. The Winter Soldier directors Anthony and Joe Russo are returning, as are writers Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely. Crossbones looks awesome. Check it out below.

Captain America: Civil War’ picks up where ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’ left off, as Steve Rogers leads the new team of Avengers in their continued efforts to safeguard humanity. After another international incident involving the Avengers results in collateral damage, political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability and a governing body to determine when to enlist the services of the team. The new status quo fractures the Avengers while they try to protect the world from a new and nefarious villain.
