Oh well, there’s still hope left in humanity: stand-up comic and actress Amy Schumer has departed Sony’s upcoming live-action Barbie movie due to scheduling conflicts. Okay, don’t panic. In such cases, Melissa McCarthy is required.
Just kidding – but not really:
Warner Bros. is reportedly eyeing Kingsman: The Secret Service and X-Men: First Class director Matthew Vaughn to direct Man of Steel 2, and “preliminary talks” about the prospect have taken place.
According to Collider‘s source, should Vaughn not want to direct the sequel to the Zack Snyder Superman movie that launched the DC Expanded Universe, they are still eager to work with him on another superhero movie.
Update: Hit the jump to check out the first look photo of “Hamilton” creator Lin-Manuel Miranda filming scenes as Jack, a lamp-lighter that gets up in the adventure with Mary Poppins.
Walt Disney Pictures has finally released the first glimpse at Emily Blunt in full Mary Poppins gear in the all new sequel to its 1964 film Mary Poppins.
Mary Poppins Returns also boasts an all-star supporting cast including Lin-Manuel Miranda as Jack, Meryl Streep as Poppins’ cousin Topsy,
A “Stranger Things” star David Harbour might be up to play the role of Nathan “Cable” Summers in Deadpool sequel.
According to The Wrap, Harbour, who plays Chief Jim Hopper on the popular Netflix series, has reportedly screen-tested by Fox for the role, but he has not yet been cast as the fan favorite mutant. I’m not happy about this; he’s good as Hopper but he has a Seth Rogen physique.
Josh Gad plays Disney’s first openly gay character in the new, hotly anticipated, live-action version of Beauty and the Beast, and this “nice, exclusively gay moment in a Disney movie” is reportedly a dedication to the animated film’s late lyricist Howard Ashman who was gay and died of AIDS in 1991 before the film’s release.
According to director Bill Condon, the “gay moment” will come during a scene in which the bumbling sidekick to the story’s main antagonist Gaston, played by Luke Evans, explores his sexuality.
No more rumors, no more bullshit. According to a press release from the studio, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes helmer Matt Reeves has officially signed on to direct the new solo feature The Batman.
Warner Bros. has confirmed that Reeves will direct and produce the project but the studio’s press release does not even mention Ben Affleck who opted to step away from the director’s chair a few weeks ago to focus on the role of the Caped Crusader.
Guillermo Del Toro has seemingly called it a wrap on advocating for Hellboy 3. The writer-director made sad the announcement on Twitter despite the fact that he promised fans that he would sit down with Ron Perlman and Mike Mignola and talk about a possible sequel if Twitter poll would get 100 thousand votes in 24 hours.
