Drew Goddard to Write and Direct Fox’s ‘X-Force’ Spinoff Movie

Deadline reports that 20th Century Fox has hired Drew Goddard (the writer behind The Martian and the director of The Cabin in the Woods) to write and direct X-Force, the X-Men spinoff movie that will feature both Ryan Reynolds and Josh Brolin reprising their roles as Deadpool and Cable.

The characters are being introduced in Deadpool 2, which opens June 1, 2018.

Filmmaker Colin Trevorrow Out as ‘Star Wars: Episode IX’ Director

Disney issued a short statement on Tuesday about Colin Trevorrow’s departure from the third trilogy Star Wars: Episode IX:

“Lucasfilm and Colin Trevorrow have mutually chosen to part ways on Star Wars: Episode IX. Colin has been a wonderful collaborator throughout the development process but we have all come to the conclusion that our visions for the project differ. We wish Colin the best and will be sharing more information about the film soon.”

Gavin O’Connor to Write and Direct ‘Suicide Squad 2’ for Warner Bros.

The Accountant director Gavin O’Connor has been tapped to write and helm Suicide Squad 2 for Warner Bros., taking over for David Ayer.

O’Connor will write a new draft with his scripting partner Anthony Tambakis, and if Warners is pleased, he’ll likely go on to direct the sequel to the hit that is expected to bring back Will Smith, Margot Robbie, and Jared Leto, though the plot remains a mystery.

Less than a week after being cast in the upcoming Hellboy: Rise of the Blood Queen as Major Ben Daimio, who in the comic books is Asian, Deadpool actor Ed Skrein has dropped out of the reboot following public outcry.

Hot on the heels of yesterday’s reports that Warner Bros. was developing a Joker origin movie for Todd Phillips (The Hangover) to direct and Martin Scorcese to produce, news comes that Focus directors Glenn Ficarra and John Requa are in final talks to write, direct and produce an untitled film about the criminally insane romance between The Joker and Harley Quinn, with Jared Leto and Margot Robbie reprising their roles from Suicide Squad.

Variety reports that director Robert Eggers has tapped his The Witch star, Anya Taylor-Joy, to play the female lead for the remake of the silent horror classic – Nosferatu.

The F.W. Murnau’s 1922 vampire film Nosferatu, A Symphony of Horror was an unofficial adaptation of Bram Stoker’s Dracula.
