Chris Hemsworth and Charlie Day Joining VACATION Reboot

New Line Cinema and Warner Bros. are bringing Thor and the Night Man along for the modern-day update of the National Lampoon’s Vacation franchise.

Marvel’s Thor franchise star Chris Hemsworth and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia co-creator and star Charlie Day are in talks for the John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein’s directorial debut that has already cast Ed Helms as the grown Rusty Griswold with Christina Applegate set to play his wife, picking up where Clark left off.

Hemsworth will be playing the husband of Rusty’s sister Audrey, while Day will cameo as a river rafting guide in the film. Vacation would be the first comedy feature for Hemsworth.

Chevy Chase and Beverly D’Angelo are expected to make cameos in the movie as Clark and Ellen Griswold.

Production on this reboot/sequel is expected to begin in September after having been delayed. I’m glad to hear it is back up and going. And for Hemsworth, this is a cool extension to his resume.

The Vacation movies began in 1983 with National Lampoon’s Vacation and were followed by European Vacation (1985), Christmas Vacation (1989) and Vegas Vacation (1997).
