Chris Pine in Talks to Play WONDER WOMAN’s Romantic Interest

Wonder Woman Casting

Chris Pine, well known to genre fiction fans as Captain Kirk in rebooted Star Trek film franchise, is in talks to play Steve Trevor, the romantic interest of the titular Amazon warrior, in Warner Bros.’ Wonder Woman.

For those who are unfamiliar with the comic books, Trevor debuted right alongside Wonder Woman in 1942’s “All Star Comics” #8, traditionally depicted as a military hero. He was Wonder Woman’s love interest and also the go between for the Justice League with the United States government.

Scott Eastwood was reportedly given the opportunity to test for that role, but he opted for a guaranteed Suicide Squad supporting part instead.

Directed by Patty Jenkins and starring Gal Gadot in the title role, Wonder Woman is expected out June 23, 2017. But first, Gadot will be seen in the role in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, slated for March 25, 2016.

Pine will next be seen in the sci-fi pic Z for Zachariah and then in Disney’s survival drama The Finest Hours. He’ll also return for Star Trek 3, but this casting should certainly nip rumors that Pine could play John Stewart a.k.a. Green Lantern once and for all.
