Christoph Waltz Reportedly Set to Play Bond Villain

Though MGM, Sony and Wilson-Broccoli’s Eon had no comment at this time, the Daily Mail reporter Baz Bamigboye claims that Django Unchained star Christoph Waltz has joined the tentatively titled Bond 24 as the villain.

There, two-time Oscar winner joins Daniel Craig,  Ralph Fiennes, Naomie Harris, Ben Whishaw,  Lea Seydoux and  Dave Bautista in the upcoming twenty-fourth James Bond film.

The still-untitled Bond entry will see Sam Mendes reuniting with Skyfall stars Craig (James Bond), Fiennes (M), Ben Whishaw (Q) and Naomie Harris (Moneypenny).

Seydoux (Blue is the Warmest Color) had reportedly signed on to play the “femme fatale” with Bautista (Guardians of the Galaxy) set to play a henchman character in the vein of the iconic “Jaws.”

Waltz’s role looks not to be straightforward, as though he may be an ally who betrays Bond.

“It’s not immediately evident whether the part’s friend, or foe, or a bit of both,” a source told the Mail, adding that his character is “extremely cunning” and “a nemesis of sorts”.

Should be good. He is very sinister and he’d be a great successor to Javier Bardem’s performance. Could Waltz be the new Blofeld? They’ve got the rights back.

Waltz, who won supporting actor Oscars for his performances in both Inglourious Basterds and Django Unchained, is set to play an antagonist in the upcoming Horrible Bosses 2 before starring Amy Adams in Tim Burton‘s Big Eyes and opposite Alexander Skarsgard in 2016’s Tarzan.

The long awaited sequel to Skyfall begins filming early next month and is currently scheduled for release in the UK on October 23rd and November 6th 2015 in the States, although some sites seem to be reporting a November 2016 release.

The production is set to shoot in Mexico, Morocco, Austria, Italy and London.
