Christopher McQuarrie Confirms His Return to ‘Mission: Impossible 6’

McQuarrie And Cruise

“Mission: Accepted,” the Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation director Christopher McQuarrie wrote this morning in a Twitter post followed by the hashtag “MI6.”

This is the first time the Mission: Impossible franchise will be repeating directors, as producer/star Tom Cruise was keen on having a new director each time, so I’m really bummed that McQuarrie gets to make another.

Cruise will reprise his Ethan Hunt super-spy role in Mission: Impossible 6, which arrives in 2017. This will probably be his last MI movie, so he doesn’t want to take any chances on hiring a director that hasn’t done this before. Paramount is aiming to start production on the next installment of the franchise in August of 2016.

Here’s hoping they bring back Rebecca Ferguson as well. Her character stole the latest Mission: Impossible movie.
