Christopher Nolan to Direct WWII Film ‘Dunkirk’ Starring Tom Hardy

WWII Film Dunkirk

Christopher Nolan is set to direct the epic action thriller Dunkirk at Warner Bros. from his own original screenplay.

A WWII movie set during the legendary 1940 evacuation in France will be headed by yet-to-be-cast unknowns, but Mark Rylance, Kenneth Branagh and Tom Hardy are currently in talks to join the ensemble.

The “mystery Nolan movie” that the studio has dated for release on July 21, 2017 will be shot on a combination of IMAX 65mm and 65mm large format film photography. Dunkirk will be released theatrically on IMAX, 70mm, 35mm, and all other screens. Shooting will begin in May.

Hm, I don’t know what to think. Those absurd Akira rumors were false.  No one actually expected him to do that, still get ready for the fanboys to start having a big O. Sorry, kids, but Nolan is going for Oscar.
