Christopher Nolan’s Next Movie is QUAY Short Doc

The Brothers Quay Documentary

Well, this a massive curveball. Christopher Nolan‘s next movie, a short documentary called Quay, is done and will cover stop-motion legends, the Quay Brothers .

Stephen and Timothy Quay are two American brothers and collaborators behind some of the most influential stop-motion animation, including Street of Crocodiles (1986), The Comb (1991), In Absentia (2000) as well as two utterly unique features, 1995’s Institute Benjamenta and 2005’s The Piano Tuner of Earthquakes.

The film, which “reveals the inner workings of the Brothers’ studio [in London],” will premiere on August 19 at Film Forum in New York City [in 35mm].

It’s cool to see the man behind Inception, Interstellar and the Dark Knight trilogy doing something like this for a decidedly less well-known duo of filmmakers. Hopefully working with non-fiction will energize him cinematically.
