Coen Bros.’ ‘Hail, Caesar!’ to Open 2016 Berlin Film Festival

Coen Brothers Musical Farce

The Coen Brothers’ latest film, Hail, Caesar! will kick off the 66th edition of the Berlin International Film Festival on February 11th, following in the footsteps of the filmmakers’ 2011 western True Grit.

The auteur-driven film would screen out of competition for the event’s Golden Bear top prize, which will be awarded by a jury led by Meryl Streep on February 20th.

A comedy about the Golden Age of Hollywood, features an all-star cast including Josh Brolin, George Clooney, Alden Ehrenreich, Ralph Fiennes, Jonah Hill, Scarlett Johansson, Frances McDormand, Tilda Swinton and Channing Tatum.

The premise of the movie is fairly simple: a single day in the life of a studio fixer who is presented with plenty of problems to fix. I hope that it will be more Raising Arizona than Inside Llewyn Davis. Hail, Caesar! is due to be released in the United States on February 5, 2016.

The Coens are the only directors that can make Clooney not act like Clooney. I really appreciate it very much.
