Colin Farrell Deep in Talks for TRUE DETECTIVE Season 2

According to many sources, Colin Farrell is in deep talks to take one of the lead roles in the second season of Nic Pizzolatto‘s True Detective.

The Wrap is also reporting that Taylor Kitsch is in the mix for the second male lead, with Garrett Hedlund also apparently rumored.

Pizzolatto earlier stated that Season 2 is heading west and would feature four lead roles. He said:

It takes place in California — not Los Angeles, but some of the much lesser known venues of California — and we’re going to try to capture a certain psychosphere ambiance of the place, much like we did in season one.

Well, that’s pretty cool, I liked Farrell in Bruges and Seven Psychopaths. I would love to see how he works with Pizzolatto’s writing. He’s a very underrated actor in terms of Hollywood keeps miscasting him as a stonefaced American action hero.

Unfortunately, as you probably already know, stars Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson will not return for the second season. The first season earned 12 Emmy nominations, including best drama and best actor nods to both McConaughey and Harrelson.

Pizzolatto denied rumors that Brad Pitt and Jessica Chastain have been cast on the critically acclaimed HBO show.

Cary Fukunaga directed all eight episodes of the first season, but the next will likely have different directors for each episode.

The second season of the hit HBO series True Detective is set to premiere in 2015.
