‘Creed’ Helmer Ryan Coogler will Direct Marvel’s ‘Black Panther’

So yeah, it’s official now. Creed helmer Ryan Coogler will direct Marvel’s upcoming superhero movie Black Panther featuring Chadwick Boseman as T’Challa, the first black superhero.

“We are fortunate to have such an esteemed filmmaker join the Marvel family,” commented producer Kevin Feige. “The talents Ryan showcased in his first two films easily made him our top choice to direct ‘Black Panther.’ Many fans have waited a long time to see Black Panther in his own film, and with Ryan we know we’ve found the perfect director to bring T’Challa’s story to life.”

Earlier this year, Selma director Ava DuVernay passed on the Marvel film, saying she and the studio “had different ideas about what the story would be.” I pray that won’t be the case with Coogler. I like how gritty his films are so he might be up to the task. However, it’s sad he won’t do the Creed sequel. I just hope Feige gives him $200 million and leaves him alone. Lawls.

The King Of Wacanda

Boseman will make his debut as the iconic hero in Captain America: Civil War, slated to debut in theaters May 6, 2016. Panther is the king of the technologically-advanced nation of Wakanda, and has served as a member of the Avengers in addition to his many solo adventures.

Black Panther will claw his way into theaters on February 16, 2018.
