Daisy Ridley Confirms Lara Croft Talks for ‘Tomb Raider’ Reboot

Tomb Raider Reboot Casting

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Star Wars: The Force Awakens star Daisy Ridley has confirmed she’s had “conversations” about the Tomb Raider reboot, even though she hasn’t officially been offered the role, nor is there a script yet.

Earlier this month, rumors hit that the 23-year-old actress has made it onto a shortlist of potential Lara Crofts for the Warner Bros. and MGM’s reboot of the video game adaptation starring Angelina Jolie.

The Tomb Raider reboot has been in the works since 2011. Jolie played the iconic video game character in two movie adaptations, 2001’s Lara Croft: Tomb Raider and 2003’s Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life, but another sequel never happened. GK Films picked up the rights in 2011, MGM came aboard in 2013, and Warner Bros. signed on in 2015. The project took a big step forward when Roar Uthaug (The Wave) was set as the director last year.

Ridley is currently working on the Rian Johnson-directed Star Wars: Episode VIII, due out December 15, 2017.

Lara Croft

I don’t know… I think she is completely wrong for the part. Her performance in Force Awakens was really wooden. Plus, she doesn’t have a “pair of pistols.”
