David Leitch Confirmed to Direct ‘Deadpool 2’

Chad Stahelski

Heat Vision confirms that David Leitch has finalized a deal to helm the sequel to the hit superhero comedy, Deadpool. Plans for Deadpool 3 are already in the works and the trade also confirms that 20th Century Fox is looking for a different director for Deadpool 3 as well. Fox had no comment.

The John Wick co-director reportedly beat out Rupert Sanders, Drew Goddard, and Magnus Martens, who were on the “to-meet” list for the studio.

Leitch replaces originally slated director Tim Miller, who exited the film over “creative differences” with Ryan Reynolds. Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick are returning to handle script duties with Reynolds back to star and produce alongside X-Men franchise caretakers Simon Kinberg and Lauren Shuler Donner.

The Sequel Updates

Production on The New Mutants movie is slated to begin early next year for a 2018 release. While Cable and Domino are reported to appear in Deadpool 2, recent reports suggest that Deadpool 3 will flesh out a full X-Force team. Yeah, the ship has been righted.
