20th Century Fox has debuted the second trailer for the Matt Reeves-directed Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, the follow-up to Rupert Wyatt‘s surprisingly strong 2010 franchise reboot.

The latest trailer is here and finally goes all out with the story and setup. The film is far more ape-centric, but the trailer tries to show off as much of the humans as possible.

Jason Clarke, Keri Russell and Gary Oldman make up a pretty terrific cast, which also includes the apes cast: Andy Serkis as Caesar, Judy Greer as Cornelia and Toby Kebbell as Koba.

The sequel to 2011’s well-received Rise of the Planet of the Apes is scheduled for a 3D release on July 11th.

Hit the jump to check out chill-inducing shots of the film set some years after we last saw chimp provocateur Caesar climb a San Francisco Redwood.

A growing nation of genetically evolved apes led by Caesar is threatened by a band of human survivors of the devastating virus unleashed a decade earlier. They reach a fragile peace, but it proves short-lived, as both sides are brought to the brink of a war that will determine who will emerge as Earth’s dominant species.
