Debut Trailer for Sarah Silverman’s Sundance Drama ‘I Smile Back’

Sarah Silverman

The raunchy comedian Sarah Silverman (A Million Ways to Die in the West) will make her dramatic debut in a very emotional drug drama I Smile Back, which premiered at Sundance earlier this year and will screen at TIFF on Saturday, September 12 before it opens in theaters on October 23.

Directed by Adam Salky from a script written by Amy Koppelman and Paige Ryan, the film centers on Laney (Silverman), a New Jersey housewife and mother of two that suffers from a drug-fueled depression.

The movie co-stars Josh Charles as Laney’s attentive husband, Thomas Sadoski, Mia Barron, Terry Kinney, and Chris Sarandon. Check out the trailer after the jump.

Yeah, the skills that make someone a great comedian transfer to dramatic work easily. Thankfully, Will Ferrell never showed off his serious acting chops. Lol

Laney is an attractive, intelligent suburban wife and devoted mother of two adorable children. She has the perfect husband who plays basketball with the kids in the driveway, a pristine house, and a shiny SUV for carting the children to their next activity. However, just beneath the façade lie depression and disillusionment that send her careening into a secret world of reckless compulsion. Only very real danger will force her to face the painful root of her destructiveness and its crumbling effect on those she loves.
