DeHaan, Delevingne to Join Luc Besson’s New Sci-Fi VALERIAN

The Fifth Element director Luc Besson, coming off the surprise smash Lucy, used his first tweets to announce that he’s going back to sci-fi once again. This time, it’s an adaptation of the graphic novel Valerian.

Besson has been developing the project for a while, which is an adaptation of French comic book series created in 1967 by Pierre Christin and Jean-Claude Mezieres (the latter of whom ended up working on The Fifth Element).

The filmmaker also revealed the main cast members, Dane DeHaan and Cara Delevingne. DeHaan is set to play the titular character, a time and space-traveling special agent from a futuristic Earth, with Delevingne starring as his red-haired sidekick, Laureline. Production is set to begin in December, with a global release slated for summer 2017.

Nice, let’s hope it’s at least half as good as The Fifth Element. Check out the logo of the film:
