‘Doctor Strange’ Concept Art Revealed in First Behind-The-Scenes Featurette

Starring Benedict Cumberbatch

Marvel Studios has debuted, via USA Today, a look at the upcoming Marvel superhero movie Doctor Strange, following a Captain America: Civil War featurette.

“You need a spectacular actor to portray this character,” says Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige of Doctor Strange. “The fact that Benedict Cumberbatch has agreed to do this role is huge for us.”

“Benedict has got an incredibly complicated emotional structure going on,” director Scott Derrickson notes. “What you can expect from this Doctor Strange movie is a mind trip action film.”

Cumberbatch stars in the lead with Chiwetel Ejiofor as Baron Mordo, Tilda Swinton as The Ancient One and Rachel McAdams, Michael Stuhlbarg and Scott Adkins in undisclosed roles. Scheduled for release on November 4, 2016, “the mystical movie that will thrust the MCU into the world of magic and alternate dimensions” is scripted by Jon Spaihts (Prometheus). Here’s the official synopsis:

Doctor Strange follows the story of neurosurgeon Doctor Stephen Strange who, after a horrific car accident, discovers the hidden world of magic and alternate dimensions.
Doctor Strange is the latest film in Phase 3 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Phase 3’s goal—over the course of four years and nine films—is to introduce audiences to new heroes and continue the adventures of fan favorites.

The costume is reportedly very comic accurate with more explicitly asian folk dress detailing. Love the fan title sequence, but the real question is whether is Derrickson capable of making a “mind trip”?

Gotta admit, Scarlett Witch’s new costume looks really hot. Besides, give us more Panther less Falcon.
