Drew Goddard to Write and Direct Fox’s ‘X-Force’ Spinoff Movie
Deadline reports that 20th Century Fox has hired Drew Goddard (the writer behind The Martian and the director of The Cabin in the Woods) to write and direct X-Force, the X-Men spinoff movie that will feature both Ryan Reynolds and Josh Brolin reprising their roles as Deadpool and Cable.
The characters are being introduced in Deadpool 2, which opens June 1, 2018. No word yet if “Atlanta” break-out Zazie Beetz will reprise her role as Domino, the assassin for hire and a member of the X-Men offshoot who will also appear in Deadpool 2.
The studio confirmed the news Thursday.
The movie will be about a Black-Ops team of deadly mutant soldiers who fight for Xavier’s cause in a much more militant way than those lame X-Men.
Word is the X-script is done, and will roll right into X-Force as soon as Goddard’s next film Bad Times at the El Royale is done, but the earliest one might expect it is late 2019 or early 2020.
