Emma Stone in Talks to Play Cruella for Disney

THR reports that Emma Stone is currently in early talks to play the 101 Dalmatians villain in Disney’s Cruella, a live-action remake of the classic 1961 animated film.

The Walt Disney Studios film is currently without a director but the outlet says that Kelly Marcel is writing the script with Aline Brosh McKenna also working on an early version of the script.

Plot details are vague apart from it is intended to be an origin story of the character, taking place before Cruella de Vil became a walking collection of cheek bones and fur-coats.

Emma Stone is hot but I don’t not see her playing someone mean or evil. It just feels like she would have to try too hard to pull that off. Six-time Oscar nominee Glenn Close already did this in the 1996 live-action film, and did it well. Won’t audiences get tired of rehashes of classic Disney animated classics? You go, Hollywood.

Elsewhere, Emma recently wrapped production on La La Land opposite Ryan Gosling and is also on board to play Billie Jean King in Battle of the Sexes opposite Steve Carell.
