Ewan McGregor as Jesus and the Devil in ‘Last Days in the Desert’ Trailer

Rodrigo Garcia’s Spiritual Drama

Broad Green Pictures has released the first official trailer for Rodrigo Garcia’s spiritual drama Last Days in the Desert, shot by three-time Oscar winner Emmanuel Lubezki.

The drama follows Jesus (Yeshua), played by Ewan McGregor, as he spends forty days and forty nights in a psychological showdown with Satan before returning to civilization in Jerusalem.

Co-starring Tye Sheridan, Ciaran Hinds and Ayelet Zurer, the film already screened at Sundance, to largely positive reviews, and will open in theaters on May 13th, 2016. Check out the trailer below.

I think it’s a bit of a pretentious thing to do, to play Jesus, and I hope this is a good movie for Ewan’s sake.

Rodrigo Garcia’s Spiritual Drama

Last Days in the Desert follows Jesus (Ewan McGregor) in an imagined chapter from his forty days of fasting and praying in the desert. On his way out of the wilderness, he struggles with the Devil, also played by McGregor, over the fate of an ordinary family in crisis, setting for himself a dramatic test with distinctly human conflicts.
