‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them’: First Look at Eddie Redmayne’s Newt

Harry Potter Spin-Off

Entertainment Weekly has today unveiled the cover to their latest issue, featuring the first image of Oscar-winner Eddie Redmayne as Newt Scamander, the main character in the Harry Potter spin-off Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.

Redmayne stands confident in the US version of the famous Ministry of Magic, which is housed inside the Woolworth Building in New York City. Yeah, he looks exactly like you’d imagine Redmayne to look as a wizard.

Um, this looks bland. Is there a name for that haircut? Jokes aside, the movie based on a J.K. Rowling novel of the same name will take audiences back to the magical world for a new adventure set 70 years before the main series in 1926 New York.

The David Yates-directed film is set to hit theaters on November 18, 2016 and also stars Katherine Waterston, Alison Sudol, Ezra Miller, Dan Fogler, Colin Farrell, Jenn Murray, Jon Voight, Carmen Ejogo, Gemma Chan and newcomer Faith Wood-Blagrove. Harry Potter Spin-Off

Fantastic Beasts will be the first in a trilogy of fantasy films centering around the adventures of magizoologist, Newt Scamander, “whose book “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” is, in the Harry Potter universe, a textbook taught in Hogwarts school.”

Update: WB has also released the first official Fantastic Beasts photos (via EW), which you can check out in the gallery below.
