FANTASTIC FOUR’s Doctor Doom Shortlist Unveiled

With new Fantastic Four‘s unlikely quartet in the upcoming movie reboot from director Josh Trank, attention has also turning to finding a villain.

Well, the shortlist for the film’s foe, Dr. Victor von Doom has been narrowed to four choices and they are all very male: Sam Riley (On the Road), Eddie Redmayne (Les Miserables), Toby Kebbell (Wrath of the Titans) and Domhnall Gleeson (About Time).

Jack Huston was previously in the mix, but according to The Wrap his involvement in the upcoming Marvel movie is unclear at this point.

Needless to say, they are all ranked rather low on the totem pole, but one of them will apparently terrorize Miles Teller, Kate Mara, Michael B. Jordan and Jamie Bell. However, I must admit they all come with varying degrees of franchise experience and they’re trending upwards on the Hollywood radar.

Gleeson (Frank) was one of the Weasley brothers in the films Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1 and Part 2. Kebbell played Agenor, the long-lost demigod in Wrath of the Titans. Riley (Control) will appear in Disney’s Maleficent opposite Angelina Jolie. Redmayne (Les Miserables) plays a villain in the Wachowskis’ Jupiter Ascending.

The Fantastic Four production is expected to begin in Baton Rouge this month, ahead of its release on June 19, 2015.

The role will be confirmed in the very near future, so stay tuned with Film Cutting.
