FAST & FURIOUS 7: CGI to Be Used for Paul Walker Scenes

I must admit this gels with earlier rumors we heard that Paul Walker‘s brother Cody possibly taking over the late actor’s Fast & Furious 7 role (which sounds incredibly awkward and more than a little dark to me).

Universal hasn’t confirmed nothing yet, but sources close to production tell The New York Daily News that

they have hired four actors with bodies very similar to Paul’s physique and they will be used for movement and as a base,” adding that “Paul’s face and voice will be used on top using CGI.

The studio will reportedly use existing footage, while screenwriter Chris Morgan worked on revisions that included retiring Walker’s character instead of killing him off in the film.

As you probably know filming on Fast & Furious 7 will resume next month in Abu Dhabi with major cast members including Vin Diesel and Michelle Rodriguez.

James Wan-directed Fast 7 will be released April 10th 2015.

Walker who died in a car crash on Nov. 30 kicked off his string of playing high schoolers in Gary Ross‘ stylistic dramedy about a black-and-white TV town that sees rapid social change when two kids from the real world (Tobey Maguire & Reese Witherspoon) are transported to the idyllic burg (below).
