First ‘Alien: Covenant’ Teaser Poster Debuts
20th Century Fox has released the first teaser poster for Ridley Scott‘s upcoming Prometheus sequel, Alien: Covenant, and by doing so they have also revealed that the film has been moved up and will debut three months early.
Originally scheduled to hit theaters on August 4th next year, Covenant will now open on May 19th, directly opposite Annabelle 2, Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Long Haul, The Nut Job 2 and its biggest competition, Baywatch. Plus, this puts the big-budget R-rated science fiction horror movie a week ahead of Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales and two weeks before Wonder Woman.
Alien: Covenant stars Michael Fassbender, Katherine Waterston, Danny McBride, Demián Bichir, Billy Crudup, Amy Seimetz, Jussie Smollett, Carmen Ejogo, and Callie Hernandez.
Covenant‘s poster picks up on the iconography of the first movie, signaling to fans that it looks accurate enough to the monstrosity introduced in the original Alien franchise. Check out the one-sheet below.
Ridley Scott returns to the universe he created in Alien with Alien: Covenant, the second chapter in a prequel trilogy that began with PROMETHEUS — and connects directly to Scott’s 1979 seminal work of science fiction. Bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, the crew of the colony ship Covenant discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world — whose sole inhabitant is the “synthetic” David (Michael Fassbender), survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.
