First Contenders for Marvel’s New Spider-Man

Logan Lerman Dylan O’Brien

Oh, man, it’s been a crazy 24 hours for Spidey. The internet is all abuzz with Spider-Man news and rumors. Okay, so, lessons learned so far can be summarized as follows:

– Marvel/Disney isn’t paying a dime for the rights to use Spider-Man
– Marvel is reportedly leasing the rights from Sony
– Both Sony and Marvel will keep the gross of their films
– The new webslinger will reportedly first appear in Captain America: Civil War before getting his own   standalone film from Sony on July 28, 2017
– MCU characters could also appear in the new Spidey films.
Kevin Feige will not be compensated for producing Sony’s 2017 Spider-Man film.
– The Amazing Spider-Man 3 is obviously dead
– Director Marc Webb won’t be back
– The Sony Spider-Man spinoffs (Sinister Six, Venom and a female-driven Spider-Man) are still in the works
– According to the deal, Sony will have final say over casting for the new Spidey
Logan Lerman (Fury) and Dylan O’Brien (The Maze Runner) have been mentioned as the first two contenders for the retooled movie that will focus on Peter Parker in high school, which means they are looking for an actor much younger than Andrew Garfield (31)
– Sony could introduce another alter ego, such as Miles Morales to replace Peter Parker
– The studio is looking to fill the director’s chair before approaching leads

I don’t think they should be ashamed for going through the story all over. I’d rather say the teenager option is a good one cause that’s what always set Spidey apart from most other heroes. And I’m okay with both actors, but I’m team Lerman all the way.
