20th Century Fox has debuted the first TV spot for Gone Girl, in which Ben Affleck’s supposedly doting husband finds himself the focus of suspicion when his wife (Rosamund Pike) disappears on their fifth wedding anniversary.

Did their perfect marriage end in the perfect crime? Well, we’ll just have to wait and see until the film opens on October 3rd to find out. The marketing are using David Fincher’s moody vibe to sell the movie rather than overshadowing the plot,  so people who haven’t read  Gillian Flynn’s source novel needn’t have worried any of the twists and turns spoiled for them.

The film that will premiere at this year’s New York Film Festival also stars Tyler Perry, Kim Dickens, Patrick Fugit, Scoot McNairy, Missi Pyle, Casey Wilson, Emily Ratajkowski, and Neil Patrick Harris.

With a top class ensemble cast, Gone Girl promises to be quite the ride.

Take a look at the first TV spot below that aired during the 66th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards. It features some new footage and more clues about the disappearance of Amy Dunne.

UPDATE: Here’s the new international poster from France, putting Amy Dunne’s character (Rosamund Pike) front and center, with Ben Affleck’s Nick Dunne behind her.
