First GOOD KILL Trailer Starring Ethan Hawke

Kravitz Greenwood Hawke

Voltage Pictures has debuted the first trailer for drone war film Good Kill, the latest reteaming between Gattaca director Andrew Niccol and Ethan Hawke.

The film which received mixed reviews out of festival premiere last fall has Hawke’s character fighting strangers in a foreign land, and then come home to hang out with his wife (January Jones) and kids. But a fighter jet pilot turned pilot of RPA increasingly grows uncomfortable with what he and the rest of the drone pilots are doing from the safety of American soil. Zoe Kravitz co-stars as his co-pilot, and Bruce Greenwood is their commanding officer.

It’s likely to speak to the many concerns cropping up about privacy, ethics and safety issues associated with drone warfare.

Jake Abel, Stafford Douglas, Kristen Rakes and Michael Sheets co-star in the film, which will be released in the UK on April 10, with IFC Films will distribute in the US later this year.

Looks like Hawke is turning into Kevin Bacon.

Andrew Niccol Drone War Film

The film tells the story of  a Las Vegas fighter-pilot turned drone-pilot (Ethan Hawke), who fights the Taliban via remote control for half of his day, then goes home to his wife (January Jones) and kids in the suburbs for the other half. But the pilot is starting to question the mission. Is he creating more terrorists than he’s killing? Is he fighting a war without end? One soldier’s tale with epic implications.

GOOD KILL is a visually stunning exploration of how a man’s psychological, emotional and moral boundaries are challenged by the realities of 21st century warfare. The film initiates an important dialogue about the current techniques used in modern war, and in the same vein as THE HURT LOCKER and FULL METAL JACKET, illustrates how war is constantly being redefined according to the technologies and methods in play.
