First ‘Independence Day: Resurgence’ Trailer Released

Roland Emmerich’s Sci-Fi Sequel

20th Century Fox has released the first official trailer for Independence Day: Resurgence, Roland Emmerich’s direct sequel to his 1996 sci-fi hit and it looks like he did a good job so far. Unlike Michael Bay, Emmerich always knows how to add some heart than an extra explosion.

The story takes place 20 years after the first extraterrestrial invasion fought by Will Smith and Jeff Goldblum. As previously reported, many original actors from the cast are returning, however, Smith is not.

Starring Liam Hemsworth, Goldblum, Bill Pullman, Judd Hirsch, Vivica A. Fox, Brent Spiner, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Jessie Usher, Maika Monroe and Sela Ward, the new entry in the franchise opens June 24, 2016.

Usher looks to be doing a good job in Smith’s place as Captain Daniel Hillard’s son. And Goldblum looks great! Pleasantly surprised by how awesome this trailer looks.
