First Look at Jack Huston & Morgan Freeman in ‘Ben-Hur’ Remake

Timur Bekmambetov's Adaptation

Paramount Pictures and MGM have released the first photos from the upcoming Ben-Hur remake (via USA Today), which follows the classic sword-and-sandals epic based on the 1880 Lew Wallace novel Ben-Hur: A Tale of the Christ.

The “Boardwalk Empire” alum Jack Huston is filling Charlton Heston‘s sandals for Timur Bekmambetov‘s adaptation of the tale of Judah Ben-Hur, the prince in Roman-occupied Jerusalem who is betrayed by his adopted brother Messala (Toby Kebbell) and forced into slavery. Five years later, following training at the hands of Ilderim (Morgan Freeman), he seeks revenge in a chariot race.

Nazanin Boniadi (Homeland) plays Judah’s love interest Esther, Rodrigo Santoro (300: Rise of an Empire) plays Jesus, and Pilou Asbaek (Lucy) plays Pontius Pilate in the new Ben-Hur, set for an August 12, 2016 release.

Check out the first look photos featuring Huston as Jewish prince and Freeman as Sheik Ilderim.

I am very impatiant to see the trailer. I hope they do the spirit of the justice, but I doubt they can capture the film’s premise in today’s marketing.
