First Look at Johnny Depp in Disney’s INTO THE WOODS

Back in July, Walt Disney Pictures debuted first trailer for their upcoming musical Into the Woods, and now the new issue of Entertainment Weekly, out Friday, features four exclusive covers of the film, giving us the first full look at what Johnny Depp’s The Wolf looks like.

Well, he’s far less Big Bad Wolf than he’s a man wearing a zoot suit. Yep, a stereotypical anime guy with wolf ears and a wolf tail. Lol.

Rob Marshall’s star-studded rendition of Stephen Sondheim’s 1987 Broadway classic has a top notch cast with Meryl Streep as The Witch, James Corden as The Baker, Emily Blunt as The Baker’s Wife, Anna Kendrick as Cinderella, Chris Pine as The Prince, Lilla Crawford as Little Red Riding Hood, and Mackenzie Mauzy as Rapunzel, among the others.

The 51-year-old actor stars as the famous fairytale character-turned-lothario opposite 13-year-old Crawford. In the 1987 production, the original Red was played by 16-year-old Danielle Ferland, which fit in well with the show’s twist on a compelling story of love, looking at the loss of innocence that surround the character. But Crawford is extremely young and her character’s solo song “I Know Things Now” is probably scrapped entirely and rerecorded with completely different song.

I want to hear the songs. It’s time for a new full trailer.

Based on the hit Broadway musical, a mash-up of the classic tales of Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Jack and the Beanstalk, and Rapunzel, hits theaters on Christmas Day.

It’s looking like Into the Woods could be fun. Check out the magazine covers for yourself:
